Neuroaesthetic Design in Practice

Our brains are constantly responding to the spaces around us, often on a subconscious level. In this short video, Kay Sargent, HOK’s director of thought leadership for Interiors, introduces the fundamentals of neuroaesthetic design, exploring how the use of color, light, spatial relationships and materiality influence emotion, comfort and behavior.

Featuring examples from HOK projects, the video shows how designers can apply neuroaesthetic principles to shape interiors that support well-being, focus and connection. We hope these insights and examples offer a clearer understanding of neuroaesthetic design and how spaces, when designed with intention, can connect with people on an emotional and physiological level.
